Introduction:
A tube/guide, of length equal to the measuring range, contains a chain of reed switches with resistors. A float containing a magnet is mounted around the guide.
The variations in level displace the float so that the magnetic field operates reed switches to alter the overall resistance of the chain of resistors, providing a value proportional to the fluid level. The overall resistance is converted electronically to a 0/4-20 mA signal.
